Advice from three of our guy friends. This week a straight woman asks,“If you could change one thing about male sexuality, what would it be?”
Straight Single Guy (Tyler Barnett): Male sexuality is not always as simple as it seems. Sure, we love sex, but so do women. In fact, I am pretty sure women enjoy sex just as much if not more than men do. So why do we often get put into the category of animals who will have sex with anything that moves? (I know most of you out there are thinking “Because it’s true!”) The truth is sure, there are some men who will have sex with anyone at any time. There are also women who will do the same. There are men who will lie to you and manipulate you to get you into bed. There are men who will cheat on you, time and time again. There are men who could care less what you are feeling, thinking, saying or doing as long as there is sex in the relationship. But we are not all those men. Most of us care about you. Most of us love having sex with you because we love YOU. And most of us care as much, if not more, about the companionship that comes with a healthy relationship. Do we love sex? Yes. Does it control our every thought, action, mood and life? For the most part, with most men, the answer is no.
Straight Married Guy (Hal): The desire for a variety of partners. I’m sure women experience this too, but I think it’s stronger in men. When you’re single it’s actually advantageous to want different people. But when you want to be monogamous it’s just a pain in the ass. It becomes something you have to mentally deal with. It seems unnecessary. Almost like a practical joke: now that you’ve found someone you really like you’re going to continue thinking about everyone else. I’d like to be able to control when I want variety and when I want only the one I love.
Gay Single Guy (Jay Dyckman): I don’t think there’s one thing about male sexuality that needs to change. Rather, I can think of one thing about each individual’s sexuality that I would change. Specifically, I would change hunky actor Chris Pratt’s sexuality. Into being gay. And totally into me.
