  1. Madamoiselle, I hope the testosterone does the trick for you.
Let me know if you try Womanzone what the outcome is, it would be interesting to hear your point of view. πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks, Suzanne. πŸ™‚ Thanks, ss. My doc said that testosterone was mostly for women with a low libido, although I really wanted to try it, because I heard it could help with my symptom of perimenopause. I’m going to give my GYN an other chance, because there is an Estrogen/Testosterone pill, but who knows? I don’t do well on oral estrogen. Migraines etc. I haven’t seen a testosterone jel or creme in the USA, it is usually given with an injection or pill.

An other thing is getting insurance to pay for it, as some consider it “experimental.” Our insurance SUCKS!

  3. ML, you might also consider talking to a Holistic Nutritionist (that’s what they’re called here in Canada), as you might benefit from a multi-pronged (no pun intended :)) approach: Diet, nutritional supplements, herbs, and natural estrogen replacement therapies. I remember watching a show, and I was sure the woman (who had a similar issue) was using a topical testosterone cream, not estrogen, can that be right?

  4. Oh, Suz, I did want to ask. Which creme made you “oversensitive?” There are so many on the market, and so many are so expensive that a few times, we wasted our money on stuff that was nothing buy menthol or peppermint oil and did nothing for either of us, but burn!

Which one did you find the most sensitizing? No reason not to employ every method we hear of! We’re always up for trying something new.

    Thanks again.

  5. Thank you for the advice, Suzanne. I’ve tried about 4 or more different sensitizing jels, ointments ect, with little luck. Estrogen helps some women in perimenopause have more regular tissue, and may help it doesn’t directly sensitize the clitoris, but the desensitization occurs BECA– USE Of natural estrogen drops in the woman’s body.

I’ve got half a dozen different kind of vibes, and have also tried abstaining from any vibration for up to a week, without much luck, but this issue probably started (very slowly) even before we started using them at all. I’m not really sure, but this is not a case of “vibrator burn out” I am pretty sure. (I don’t think hot flashes, night sweats, menstrual irregularities, skin changes, hair changes and hormonal mood swings are symptoms of vibrator burn out. πŸ˜‰ )

Sadly, too many women in perimenopause suffer from a decrease in clitoral sensitivity as hormone levels change and it is almost never talked about! (It is very similar to the reasons men have trouble with maintaining erection as they get older, and is probably MORE common in women than in men, but we don’t have our own pill for this, yet.) I went to my doctor, and he knew it was common, thus the estrogen and a few other things.

Abstaining was simply not working and making me more upset and frustrated. My Man and I have worked on this issue for a while, and I was just so happy to see that some women are talking about it. Nina described almost exactly what I am going through, and it actually made me feel so much better, that if the Hitachi or the Wahl plug in is OK for HER, I should feel good enough about it to continue using it, and be content with this for now. As Nina said she does, we only need it for about 3 to 5 minutes at the end, my libido is great, strong as ever, so it’s just a “finisher.”

Talked to My Man yesterday, asked him if he knew who Nina was, he just smiled and said, “Hell yeah!” When I told him that she and her husband are doing the same thing we are doing, (and that Nina has had the same issue, with a nearly identical solution) he seemed happy that we had also figured it out on our own, and that we are far from alone.

Once I have the first climax, the next dozen or so are quite easy, it’s just the first one which is difficult. We have been adapting to the way both of our bodies have been changing, and seem to have come to a good ways to deal with this.

Before this, I NEVER had any problem, and never even thought I would have a problem. It was something I took for granted, and wish I had known that this actually happens to many women as they go through perimenopause.

If I have to choose between only climaxing occasionally, and never knowing WHEN it’s going to happen, or using the plug in and nearly always getting there, with no worry, I feel confident sticking with the Wahl for the last couple of minutes before climax most of the time. Now, my fear is. “What if the power goes out?” LOL!

Thanks for your concern, Suzanne! πŸ˜€

  6. Madamoiselle, have you tried using a sensitivity heightening cream? Is oestrogen cream a sensitising cream?
There are quite a few on the market and they do work, I’ve tested one in the past and it made me over sensitive so I’m sure it would have been good for others not so sensitive.
I’ve also read that some vibrators can operate at frequencies which can create a temporary numbing effect with regular use.
I’m waiting to receive the paper which backs up this claim but I’ve noticed that over stimulation of my clitoris makes it slightly numb and I have to abstain for a while to regain sensitivity.
If you can’t bear the thought of abstinence you could try a vibrator with a different frequency.

  7. Nina just made my day, week, month, year?

Nina uses a similar vibe as I do, (I use the Wahl, she uses the Hitachi, they are very similar, I think the Hitachi is a little stronger) “for the last 3 to 5 minutes of sex play.” I’ve been feeling kind of bad, because it seems as perimenopause has kicked in heavily (and I’m even younger than Nina) my sensitivity has decreased (but not my libido) and it was taking me forever or not happening. Even with a little estrogen creme supplement. If we use the Vibe at just the right minute, the magic is back.

Hey, if NINA needs an A/C vibe to get “the rest of the way there” I am NOT gonna feel bad about needing the same thing.

I need to show this to My Man.

    THANK YOU NINA!!!!
