Dream Interpretation: I Cheated, Got Preggers, and Liked It

Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. (By the way, she’s got a newly relaunched website up where you can get more free interpretations). This week, a woman asks Lauri:

I’m 21 years old and I’ve been with my boyfriend for a year and a half. Lately I’ve been feeling like I don’t want to be with him anymore: I realize I’m just not happy with him. So then I have this dream and it’s a strange one: I’m with this guy, a really good friend of mine who in real life I used to like but with whom nothing has ever happened; we’re watching movies at his house and then we start kissing, and kissing passionately, and even though it’s a dream it feels so real. It’s been a long time since someone has kissed me like that. Anyway, after a moment of kissing, we’re having sex, but it’s gentle and sweet and intense all at the same time. Then, next thing I know I’m telling him I’m pregnant!  The weird thing is that if this actually happened in the real life with my current boyfriend I would have totally freaked out, but in the dream I was so happy and excited…?

Sounds like somebody needs to give their boyfriend the old heave-ho….

Lauri: Our dreams have a really cool way of helping us make decisions, which is why we say, “Let me sleep on it!”  Your dream is doing this for you.  The guy you are with in the dream represents what you want in a mate: friendship and attraction.  These are things you apparently don’t have with your current boyfriend.  You are kissing in the dream because kissing — to the dreaming mind — is actually about communication because, like kissing, it takes two mouths to communicate.  In other words, you need to communicate your feelings to your boyfriend that the attraction and/or friendship just isn’t working for ya.  Your dream then switches scenes to you being pregnant.  When dreams suddenly switch scenes like this, it is showing you how one thing has — or ought to — lead to another.  Pregnancy in dreams represents a new idea, thought pattern, lifestyle, etc, that is “growing inside of you.”  Not wanting to be with your boyfriend is an idea that has been growing inside of you lately.  Your dream is telling you to communicate this to your beau so you can enjoy a new life, either with or without him, that excites you as much as the pregnancy did.

  1. Wow.
That is nuts, because the same thing is happening to me right now, and I have been having weird dreams like that.
