Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. Got a dream you want Lauri to analyze? Click here to submit it) This week, a reader asks Lauri:

I keep having very strange dreams about my cousin’s boyfriend every night. In my dreams he’s always kissing me softly, and then we do every dirty thing there is to do. We ultimately get caught and I’m made to feel bad for it. He always laughs at this point in the dream. The whole thing is so hot, I wake up sweating and very happy. In real life, I find this guy attractive and think he’s a lovely person, but I have never personally looked at him as someone I could seriously get with. I have been in a relationship with my partner for 4 years, so I’m confused.

Lauri: Well, this could be simply a fantasy you are safely playing out in your head while you sleep BUT you did mention you don’t look at him in that way and these dreams are happening every night… that’s a lot! That leads me to believe that there is something more to this than a simple fantasy.

When dreams recur it is because you are not getting the message and taking action on the message so the dream has to nag you until you get it. Usually, sex dreams aren’t about sex at all. Rather than being about a physical union you want, they are more about a psychological union you need. There must be something about this man’s personality or something about his life that you want  — or need — to bring into your self just as you brought him into your body in the dream. What are the first three things that come to mind when you think of him? Is he easy going? Does he love his job? Has he got mad computer skills? Whatever it is, it is something your wiser inner self feels you need for yourself as it would improve your life.

The getting caught is an important aspect of the dream. It is connected to something going on in your life or within you that you would rather keep to yourself. Now think beyond these dirty dreams and ask yourself what thoughts or what situation in your life are you trying to hide or keep private? Whatever it is, I believe the laughing at the end of the dream is the way your inner mind is telling you to not take this situation so seriously, laugh it off, it may not be as bad as you think.
