I like to think I’m quite good at understanding the symbolism of my dream world but this one has me stumped and I’d appreciate some help. In my dream I’m driving my girlfriend’s car with my dad next to me (in reality my dad can’t drive, but in this dream he can, even though I’m driving), he is also much more successful than he is in reality). When we get stopped by the police he deals with it by telling them a lie (but I don’t know what the lie is), then the policeman measures the tread of my tires and tells me I’m lucky. When I get in the car there is a sign taped to the dash board that makes me understand why my dad lied!: when we get out of the car we go into a room where there is a big man naked and I automatically get down on my knees and give him a blow job. I’m not gay and have never given a man oral sex before and in my dream I’m quite pleasantly surprised at the taste and texture of his semen! What on earth does this mean?
Lauri: First of all, kudos to you for paying attention to and working with your dreams. Our dreams truly are the most powerful part of who we are, and when we can understand them we become a hugely powerful force in our own lives! Now, let’s see if I can un-stump you…
In the dream you are driving your girlfriend’s car. That’s a good indication that you are either the one that is the driving force in the relationship, i.e. the decision maker OR you are the one in control of a certain aspect of the relationship. And your dad is also representative of your control in the relationship or in some part of it because, traditionally, dads are the head of the household, the bread winner, etc.
Now, it seems that there is something going on in your relationship with your girlfriend that is causing you pause and that comes in the form of the police stopping you. The police are your inner police, the part of you that knows right from wrong, the part of you that polices your behavior and that can put a stop to something that is not right. Your dad then proceeds to lie to the police. Unless there is something in waking life your dad has lied about that is bothering you, then the lie is most likely connected to something you are not being honest about. Maybe it’s something you’re not being honest about with your girlfriend or perhaps it is something you are not being honest about with yourself! Whatever it is, it seems you are feeling pretty lucky about not having to face the truth yet. The message on the dashboard may be about the inner dialogue you have with yourself as to why it is best that you not deal with the truth just yet.
Then your dream takes quite a turn and we find you giving a Lewinsky to a large naked man! We’ve had straight men write in with this sort of dream before so take comfort in knowing you aren not alone! Typically, oral sex in a dream is more about communication. In fact, anytime the mouth is brought to attention in a dream it can always be connected to what needs to be said or what has been recently said in waking life. You are the one who is the giver in the dream so this is most likely connected to “lip service” you are giving… in other words, it is connected to that mischievous little lie that’s floating around in this dream.
Now, the man is naked and nudity in a dream can often be about opening up and getting it all off your chest. So this makes me wonder if you “came” (ahem) clean with your girlfriend or finally came clean with yourself. The pleasant taste of the semen is probably the way your dream is showing you that “it won’t be so bad after all.”
