Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. Got a dream you want Lauri to analyze? Click here to submit it. This week, a reader asks Lauri:

I had this dream about one of my girl friends, and she was falling and I saved her. She told me she loved me and kissed me on the lips.  Does this mean I’m bi-curious? And would there have been a chance she had the same dream too?

LauriIs there a chance she had the same dream too? It is possible. There is a phenomenon called shared dreaming where two people have the same or a very similar dream on the exact same night. It usually happens to two people who are very close: husband and wife, best friends, mother and daughter, etc. The reason why is because the two individuals are dealing with the same issue and their subconscious responds to it similarly by giving them comparable dreams.

That being said, the only way you can know if she had the same dream is to ask her!

Does it mean you are bi-curious? Probably not, because dreams are more symbolic than literal. Plus, if you were bi-curious you would probably know it long before this dream.

Now, let’s see if we can figure out the meaning of it. The falling aspect of this dream means that she or perhaps even you have suffered some sort of let down or perhaps even an emotional crash recently.  In real life, have you supported her emotionally, held her up as she was crumbling or stopped her from making a mistake in some way?

The kiss may symbolize intimate conversation because, like kissing, it takes two mouths to communicate. Did you support her or help her recently through a deep and meaningful conversation?

It’s great that she tells you she loves you. Yes, this could reflect her love for you as a dear and supportive friend but it is also important to keep in mind that whatever you are told in a dream – no matter who is saying it – it is really coming from the deepest part of yourself. So I believe this declaration of love is really recognition from your subconscious for a job well done in waking life. So good job, young lady!
