Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. This week, a reader asks Lauri:

For the last two nights in a row, I’ve dreamt about people I met from when I was living in Japan last year. In the dream, it seemed like an orgy, but nothing sexual was going on.

For the first part, I’m in a room with almost everyone I remember from then. We’re all fully clothed and in a room with wooden beams, a light ceiling and pinkish, whitish light… but I don’t remember there being any shadows. Some of the boys and girls stood on tables, while others stood on the floor.

I stood behind one guy — who I liked as a friend and thought was cool to hang with, but I didn’t get much of a chance to talk to him and we didn’t hang much — and started massaging his shoulders with a couple of I Rub my Duckies. I distinctly remember the sound of his moaning.

Lauri: While it’s certainly possible that the recent earthquakes and tsunami have brought your days in Japan back to mind, this dream may go even deeper. Orgies in dreams are usually connected to waking life chaos and uncertainty. There’s a lot of chaos and uncertainty in Japan right now. Is there also a lot of chaos and uncertainty in your life as well?

The people standing on the tables suggest you feel something is out of place in your life. The guy in your dream, who you actually did fancy in real life but didn’t get to know as much as you would’ve liked, most likely represents the male, assertive part of yourself that you need to get to know a little better. This is why you are massaging his shoulders in the dream. Shoulders represent your ability to be responsible and to be strong and even supportive of others because we “shoulder” responsibilities and often lend a “shoulder” to cry on to friends. Interesting, though, that you were using a popular sex toy to do the massaging! Again, this could be another play on words (our dreams love to do this) and might suggest that you are “ducking” a certain responsibility.

But, since there were moans of pleasure in your dream, I think it may be more about the need to get to know your male assertive self a little better, step up to the plate, and be strong in dealing with a current issue as that would bring you a certain level of “pleasure” and “self satisfaction”!
