Dream Interpretation: I’m Having Erotic Dreams About My Boss

Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. Got a dream you want Lauri to analyze? Click here to submit it) This week, a reader asks Lauri:

I have had my eye on a guy for 8 years now. We are both married to other people. I recently started working for the fellow, which I stated I would never do, because I would end up sleeping with him. OK, so now I want to. The past 6 months I started having dreams about him, they get better all the time. I have had some sexual dreams in which I get embarrassed and stay away from him for a few days following these dreams.

Just recently, I find myself confused about how much I have really discussed with him and what I dreamed about discussing. This past week I almost grabbed his thigh, but at the last minute retracted my hand. I don’t know if this would cost me my job or if he would like me to be aggressive as he is my boss and he cannot pursue me. I am pretty sure he is interested, since he gets close to me and will reciprocate a quick touch. Just hoping to interpret the correct feelings or start sharing my erotic dreams with another candidate.

Lauri: It concerns me that you are having a hard time determining the difference between waking life conversation and dream conversation. Typically, that is a tale-tell sign that your mind is so consumed with this issue, that he is in your thoughts so much, your waking thoughts and your dreaming thoughts… that the line between what is real and what is not has blurred.

This may also be why your dreams of him are progressing in “betterness,” because your waking thoughts feed your dreams and your dreams feed your waking thoughts. You are also a good example of how we can program ourselves to dream about anything or anyone we want… simply by obsessing over it while awake.

Anyhoo, your question to me is how to interpret the correct feelings. His feelings? Or yours? I’m sure you are very aware of yours. His feelings, I cannot. Choose another candidate to be in your erotic dreams? Might be a good idea. Perhaps a movie star or someone else that is not within striking distance because your marriage and your livelihood are at risk here.
