Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. This week, a reader asks Lauri:

I recently divorced my ex-husband after his not being there for me and his children for many years. I also took back my maiden name. The other night I dreamed that he, as a male, was having a baby. What might my dream mean?

Lauri: Deciding to end a marriage is never easy, especially when children are involved.  I witnessed my sister struggle with that decision — there was an awful lot of guilt she had to sort through, but ultimately it was the right decision because an unemployed abusive drunk does not a loving father and husband make!  I believe your dream reflects that you made the right decision as well, despite any guilt you may have had.  Birth in a dream — no matter who is delivering — always points to a brand new beginning in waking life.

Since your ex is the one birthing the baby, it may be connected to his new life or new attitude.  Since you divorced, has he turned things around at all?  Does he now seem more attentive as a father?  It is also possible that this dream is about YOUR new life that — because of him — you are now able to live.  Sometimes we have to go through a hellish situation in order to find ourselves.   That baby just might be YOU!  He “delivered you” from an unhappy marriage so that you can now have “a new life.”  Pretty good dream, I’d say.
