I’m secretly dating this guy and had a really bizarre dream about him: He got arrested and the police and his mother (whom I have never met) brought him to my apartment just so I could see him get hauled off. I ran after him crying hysterically and apologizing to his mother. I then called my ex to tell him the bad news and wondered why he didn’t care that I was sitting in a car crying. End of dream.
Lauri: Okay, let’s back up just a bit, shall we? Why are you secretly dating this man? Who are you afraid of hurting? Why can this romance not be known? Whatever the issue is that is forcing this relationship to be under wraps is what has triggered this dream. There is something not right about this relationship and that is why your man is arrested in the dream.
The police represent your sense of right and wrong, as well as your ability to put a stop to what is not right. Have you been considering ending the relationship? That may be why he was hauled to your apartment so you could witness it; you must be afraid to pull the trigger because you are afraid to see him hurt. His mother is standing in for the part of you that nurtured him and the relationship. Is there a part of you that is sorry for nurturing a forbidden romance? Interesting that you called your ex. Deep down, are you wanting to reconcile with him, perhaps run into his arms should your current relationship end? Whatever the case, the fact that you wondered why he didn’t care in the dream is most likely connected to the fact that you must feel in waking life he didn’t care about you at the end.
Your sorrow in the dream is connected to waking life sorrow. Something tells me your heart is breaking because you know you need to end this relationship and don’t much care for the idea of being alone. Chin up.
