Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. This week, a reader asks Lauri:
I’ve been dating my boy for 3 years and I think I love him, but I keep having this dream that I’m having sex with this guy (and I’m enjoying it) even though he has a girlfriend and a baby now. I have always secretly liked this guy, even before my current boyfriend. We were almost an item but it didn’t happen… even after I wake up I’m thinking I didn’t want the dream to end. Are my dreams telling me I secretly want to be with this guy I’ve always had feelings for?
Lauri: Well… as you’ve admitted, you do hold a bit of a fancy for him, which means your inner mind may sometimes take liberties with his image. And there’s nothing wrong with that, so long as it remains in your head. Does it mean you will always pine for him and hope to someday be with him? Not likely… not unless you’re a psychotic, obsessive stalker type, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re not, in which case you may find this guy shows up in your steamy dreams whenever you need a little more excitement in your current relationship.
Let’s face it, all relationships, no matter how fantastic they are, tend to fall into certain routines and become too comfortable. The raging inferno dims to a low simmer at best. But the inner mind loves to be stimulated, and it remembers the stimulation it got from this guy. When it needs to be tickled and spanked, it will bring this guy into your dreams. These dreams can be good for your current relationship because they are a reminder that it’s time to spice it up again.
I would keep track of when you have these dreams. You might find that they tend to happen right when you are in the middle of your cycle, when you are ovulating. That is when we gals become a bit more horny than usual! But there is also the possibility that there could be another layer to these dreams. It may also be that, despite the excitement he represents, there may be something else about him that you want for yourself… something else about him that you want to bring into your life just as you brought him into your body in the dream. Could it be that he has a baby now and you’re starting to think about how that might be nice? Or maybe he has a cool job? Put your thinking cap on and see if you can connect anything else about him that you desire for yourself.
Whatever the case, the dreams are good for you… just keep them in your head!
