Dream Interpretation – My BF Gave Me a Necklace, Then Shagged My Mum

Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about love and sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. This week, a reader asks Lauri:

I’ve had this dream on several occasions now, and it’s really bothering me. It starts with me organizing a party for my 22nd birthday, and inviting all my friends to it. My best friend, Chris, tells me he’ll come and organize the party for me, and gives me a beautiful necklace. When the party comes, there’s nothing organized at all and I feel really angry. When I go to confront Chris, I find him having sex with my mum, which is quite confusing, because I’m not sure if the anger I feel is because I’m disappointed about the party or because I’m jealous he’s hooking up with my mum.

Lauri: Are plans for your birthday really in the works?  If not, then most likely this element of your dream is connected to your waking life need to receive recognition and appreciation.  What have you done lately that you feel deserves a celebration or at the very least, a thank you?  The disappointment and jealousy you feel in the dream is a continuation from jealousy and disappointment you feel in waking life.  Did your friend Chris let you down? Or did something else not work out for you?  Whatever it is, it seems you want Chris to make it better.  That’s why he’s shagging your mum!  You want him to unite, to “come together” with his inner nurturer, which is what your mother represents as she is someone that nurtures and takes care of things for you. I believe your dream is trying to show you that, even though you don’t think Chris has stepped up to the plate enough, he has in fact given you something very valuable represented by the necklace.  Necklaces adorn the throat and chest area, which is where the voice and emotions are.  Think about that and see if you can connect Chris to your ability to voice yourself or handle your emotions a little better.
