Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. Each week, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg tells one lucky reader what their dirty dream means. Got a dream you want Lauri to analyze? Click here to submit it) This week, a male reader asks Lauri:
I’ve recently been having problems with my partner of a year. We’ve just decided to take some space.
The night we decided that, I dreamt I was pregnant with his child and drunk. The second night, I dreamt that he went on a date with someone new, that they were happy and I was trying to avoid him because he was going to leave me — I ran into them on a plane and exited a bus trying to not be seen. I’ve woken up in a cold sweat and a state of panic after both these dreams.
Lauri: When you are going through a tough time in life, as you are, your dreams can be a great source of guidance. It seems your dreams were trying to help you with the decision of separating.
The first night, through your dream, you explore the idea of being alone. The pregnancy represents how you would have to grow and develop a new life on your own, just as a pregnancy is a growing and developing new life. You were drunk because, at the time, your perspective of having to grow and develop a new life on your own was not focused, it was distorted because you were “drunk” from the pain.
The second night, through your dream, you explore the idea of him being with someone else. He is happy and on a plane. That may be connected to your fear that he may find someone else and their relationship may take off while you may be left behind. And exiting the plane and the bus is connected to your fear of being all alone because planes and buses are vehicles you ride with others.
It is interesting that you were trying not to be seen in the dream. Whenever we hide in a dream, it is often connected to something we are hiding in real life. Perhaps you were hiding your pain from him and others. Did you try to act cool about the split even though it was gut wrenching for you?
The panic you woke up with from the dream is important. Those are your true, honest, unfiltered feelings about the situation. It seems you weren’t terribly pleased with it… to say the least. So I am curious, as are the readers, I’m sure: Did you get back together or did you come to the conclusion that you are better off? Either way, I hope you are hanging in there!
Dreamer’s response: Thanks for the interpretation. It’s interesting that you say that, as I’ve had a few readings (Phone Psychic Readings and tarot) which all highlight the fact that I’m supposed to be going through a period of change and rebirth, hence the pregnancy dream. The other funny thing is, one of the readers has also said I am in fact pregnant. That, I need to wait and see on.
I did try to play it cool when we got down to the fact that we needed a break. It was that or the fact that I had exhausted my emotions before that and felt nothing. We’re still hammering things out. It’ll be a little while before I’ll have a proper resolution but it’s nice to know that I can’t deceive my subconscious even if I’m telling myself I’m fine on the surface.
What’s worse is that I haven’t stopped the dreaming. They’re a little more obscure now, but they still cover the same areas. 🙁
Thank you again.
