I have sex with my mom in my dreams WTH is that all about?
Lauri: Yes, major “Eew!” factor with this one. But fear not! Remember, dreams are symbolic and not to be taken literally. Sex, to the dreaming mind, is not always about a physical union you want, but is more often about a psychological union you need. Do you need to connect with your mom in some way? Have you drifted apart, or do you no longer get along? Your dream may be urging you to re-unite. Or do you guys have an awesome relationship? If so, you may get this dream whenever you two really connect and get each other.
It is also possible that your mom is not playing herself at all but rather is standing in for your own “inner Mom,” meaning the part of you that is nurturing and that cares for and “mothers” yourself and others. Your recurring “Oedipus” dreams may merely be a reflection of the fact that you are a big, caring softy.
Whatever the case, these dreams in NO WAY indicate that you are an incestuous freak.

Also, just to place this out there for people who feel ashamed, incestuous fantasies while awake aren’t intrinsically bad either; the reason for their occurrences can be just like the dreams, except you have control. What you’ll most often find is, unless your parent is smoking hot and you connect on a perfect level, that your attraction is not really to that person, but to who you wish or thought that person was. Like in the article above, you may crave a better psychological relationship rather than physical. Most often, you can have an incest fantasy, see the person in real life, and realize you don’t actually feel that way towards them.
So, don’t beat yourself up if you do have incest fantasies or thoughts while awake. It only becomes a problem if you act on them.
I just got very upset after this dream but after I read this m feeling good ,I am happy that m not the only one who had this dream and now m taking this as symbolic representation .Anyways dream I don’t want to describe but thanks lauri for telling that m not a ancestuous freak.. :-p

I’ve had this same dream ..it’s my mom but in her 30’s. It feels so real and the emotion of love and desire run very deep between us. I’ve come to understand; as it was said earlier, that they’re symbols .. she symbolizes anoher person (whom I’ve had a relationship with) who wears the persona of my mom … the prsonality traits etc .. I do have romantic feelings for this person and she for me in a on-off .. hot-cold type relationship. There’s another prson whom she embodies in the same manner, another whom I never got totally over.
The dream reflects the continuing dynamic of the later person and myself. It’s a spiritual window that gives me insight on coming events(this has actually proven true numerous times in the past!) that will take place between she & I.

Also, one of my favorite aspects of the Dream Interpretation column is learning that sex in dreams doesn’t necessarily mean sex in real life. It makes me feel way better about that roommate dream a couple years ago :o)
