Back in 1985, Alison Bechdel’s comic “Dykes to Watch Out For” mentioned “The Rule,” one character’s three simple requirements for whether or not she would see a movie:

  1. It has to have at least 2 women in it
  2. Who talk to each other
  3. About something besides a man

You will be amazed at and horrified by how many movies, even in this day and age, do not pass this test

  1. I think even some of the movies this year do not feature women if half the cast is women. The first which came to mind was Valentine’s Day which has a lot of women in it. They have names, they do talk to one another but unfortunately they talk about men or their lack of having men in their lives. A bit sad when a movie that has mostly women in it are not talking about things that do not include males.
