Other people’s dreams are never interesting…except when they’re about sex. If you’ve got a good one, our dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg just might tell you what it means! Click here to submit yours (18 and older only for dream interpretations, please). This week, a reader asks Lauri:
I am secretly in love with a friend of mine and I struggle to decide if I should talk to him about my feelings or not: the signs show that he sees me only as a friend.
Last night I saw in my dream that I was at a coffee house and he suddenly appeared out of nowhere and kissed me on my lips! It was so real …
Is it just a silly dream created by my subconscious, or a sign that I should or shouldn’t talk to him ?
Lauri: Secrets certainly cause interesting dreams! And those dreams absolutely help us deal with our secrets… just as this dream is helping you. Your dream takes place in a coffee house. In real life, coffee houses are great places for conversation and first dates! But symbolically it is about “waking up” to some truth you might have been “sleeping through” before. In your case it is likely your desire to wake your friend up to your feelings.
Your friend appears out of nowhere. This, I believe, is your dream preparing you for his take on all this… to him, your feelings may seem to come out of nowhere. Knowing this will allow you to prepare him for it.
Then comes the kiss! Kissing in dreams is really about intimate conversation because, like conversation, it takes two mouths. Bitg are very intimate experiences.
So I believe your dream is saying, “Go for it!” But keep in mind that it may totally surprise him so be gentle as you proceed. And regardless of the outcome, you’ll have freed yourself of the secret, which means you will no longer be in limbo. Your relationship with him will either progress or you’ll “wake up” to the fact that you’ll just be friends. But that’s okay because that will allow you to move on from it so you can have room in your heart to find someone who feels the same for you. Knowing is always better than not knowing. Knowledge is power as they say and as long as you have no knowledge of his feelings you will continue to feel uncertain and powerless. Either way, you will grow!

This is such a fun one! I once had the same dream, weirdly enough, and it worked out for me! 🙂 I say, go for it too!
